Kedarkantha trek in Uttarakhand is the perfect mix of fun and adventure trip. The trek takes you to a max altitude of 3800 mts above sea level and has a total trekking distance of 20 km approx., and thus is an easy trek for beginners. The prominent Himalayan peaks visible from this trek are Bandar poonch, Swargarohini and black peak. The base camp of the Kedarkantha trek, Sankri village is a very beautiful and quaint village itself which falls under Govindpashuvihar, an IUCN category ii National park.So the trek also allows you to soak in the natural charm of this beautiful village, apart from giving you a thrilling adventure experience.

Dehradun to Kedarkantha Base

Day 1

Dehradun to Sankri (200 kms 8 hrs approx.)

We have a departure time of 7:00 am from Dehradun, so you can plan so as to reach Dehradun early or a day before.We will drive through mussoorie, purola and other small beautiful hill towns to reach sankri by evening, it’s a scenic drive along the hills and river so you better stay awake to enjoy the beauty.on arrival at sankri check in to hotel/guest house and relax for the day.

Day 2

Sankri to Juda katalab (5 kms trek)

Wake up to a beautiful village morning with sound of birds chirping, and excellent Himalayan view. its our trek day so get ready for a morning brief and embark on the trail to Himalayas. the route passes through calm and quite pine forest, and later as you walk ahead the forest opens up to a serene meadow at this point you would have covered much of your todays trek distance, so you can relax at this point with packed lunch.after a halt we will proceed for our camping destination judakatalab which is a small pond set amidst dense pine and oak forest. Overnight in tents.

Day 3

Juda katalab to Kedarkantha base (4 kms trek)

As we gain altitude we get closer to the kedarkantha summit and the view of snow cladded peaks open up in front of you. This is the moment you will realize that there is no other thing in the world, as beautiful as Himalayas.it will take around 2 to 3 hrs to reach our campsite for today, so will have enough time to relax and enjoy yourself in peace or with your team mates. Overnight in tents.

Day 4

Kedarkantha base to kedarkantha summit and back to Hargaon. (6 kms trek)

Today we will move to conquer the kedarkantha summit, so before the morning breaks we will start our trek to witness the magical sunrise in the Himalayas, it’s truly amazing to view the white snow covered mountains turning to gold. While moving you can clearly see the Kedarkantha peak and can find yourself amidst the snow grounds where you will be walking. Be careful and walk steadily towards your destination, as the climb gets steeper and challenging from hereon. On reaching the summit realx and enjoy the panoramic view of the Himalayan peaks such as bandarpoonch, swargarohini, black peak.Later trek down to Hargaonfor overnight stay.

Day 5

Hargaon to Sankri and drive to Dehradun (6 kms trek and 200 kms drive)

After an early breakfast head back to the base of the trek, Sankri village. On arrival have some refreshment and proceed back to Dehradun, we will reach Dehradun by 8-9 pm so if you wish to travel further you can have your bookings any time after 10:00 pm.

  • Food while on trek starting lunch on day 2 to breakfast on day 5.
  • Forest permits, camping charges, or expedition fee.
  • Experienced and qualified trek leader, support staff, cook, porters and mules for carrying common luggage.
  • Tents for triple sharing, sleeping bags, mats etc.
  • Basic first aid and medical kit
  • Technical and safety equipment if required

  • Any item or expense of personal nature
  • Meals during road transit
  • Porter mule charges for carrying personal luggage
  • Cost escalation due to change in duration of the trek which may happen due to natural and unforeseen conditions like bad weather, landslides, road blocks or political imbalances etc.
